MCF is a vibrant church of people comprising all ages and many nationalities, with a strong desire to be a loving and caring community. We have a special emphasis on reaching the younger generations, and to this end we invest in ministry to youth, young adults, and children alongside Mackay Christian College, our Christian day School, from early learning to grade 12.

We are committed to the command of Jesus to carry forth the truth and hope that is in Jesus Christ to a world in great need.

We value worship as vital to experiencing a strong presence of God in our services and other gatherings. We believe that we can know God by His presence which comes with sincere hearts lifting worship in love to Him.

This Church had its genesis over 100 years ago when a courageous woman, touched by God in the Sunshine Revival in Victoria, came to Mackay in 1913 to bring the message of Pentecost. Annie Dennis (nee Smith) was a powerful servant of God who planted churches from Rockhampton to Cairns and saw many salvations, miracles and people baptized in the Holy Spirit.

MCF is led today by Pastor Rob Booth-Jones and his wife Pastor Denise, who answered the call of God in 1983 to come to Mackay and lead the Church. Today this includes a dedicated staff who, together with committed volunteers, seek to minister to all age groups.

Next Steps

If you’re interested in finding out more any of these things, please contact the office or register your interest at the Info & Connect Desk on a Sunday.

Our desire is that people in MCF find their God-given purpose and unlock their God-given potential in life so they can share it boldly with others.

Over the course of your Christian journey there are several Next Steps that you can take to equip and encourage you in your journey of faith.

Our Statement of Beliefs

Our statement of beliefs:

  1. The Apostles’ Creed: We believe that sin has separated each of us from a holy God and His purpose for our lives, and that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man, is the only One who can reconcile us to God. Jesus Christ lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory over death.  We believe that to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

  2. We believe the Bible is the word of God, written by men as the Holy Spirit gave them inspiration. 1Timothy 3:16.

  3. We believe Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to His followers and this is evidenced by the indwelling of God by His Spirit within our beings at salvation. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues as a supernatural sign and an ongoing prayer language and the empowering of believers to do the works of God with the gifts He imparts to individuals to serve and advance His kingdom. John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8,2:4, 1Corinthians 12:1-11.

  4. We believe in the water baptism of believers (by full immersion) who have declared their faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour. Matthew 28:19, Mark 3:16, Romans 6:34, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:12.

  5. We believe that Christ gave gifts unto men in the form of Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelists for the preparation of Christians for the work of service to the kingdom. Ephesians 4:11-16.

  6. We believe in the power of God by the display of His love in the supernatural work of miracles and deliverance.

  7. We believe in the calling of all Christians to the work of ministry in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and the making of disciples. 2Corintghians 5:18, Matthew 28:19-20

  8. We believe in obedience to the principal commands of Christ: (1) To love God, love people and love ourselves Mark 12:30, (2) To go into all the world and make disciples of all nations Matthew 28:18-20, (3) To take communion (the Lord’s table), in remembrance of Him. 1 Corinthians 11:24-25.

  9. We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ who will catch up His body in the rapture, followed by the seven-year reign of the Anti-Christ and the judgement of God expressed in the tribulation of three and half years. Then will be the second coming of Christ to the earth. Daniel 8:23-26,9:24-27, Matthew 24:36-39, 1Thessalonians 4:16-17.

  10. We believe in the final judgements of God where the Book of Life will be opened. Those whose names are included, the ones who believe and receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour, will be judged according to their works with eternal rewards. Those who have not believed and whose names are not included in the Book of Life, will perish and be excluded from God’s presence for eternity with suffering and regret. Revelation 20:11-15, 2 Corinthians 5:10.
